Marylyn Harris is a former U.S. Army Nurse, Gulf War Veteran and Social Entrepreneur that pivoted her career to Healthcare Cybersecurity in 2018. Ms. Harris began her Information Technology (IT) studies by entering a five (5) day CompTia Network+ Bootcamp and dropped out on the morning of the third day. It did not take Harris long to know that she wanted to pursue a career in IT. She sought to study at a pace that fit her learning style. Next, Harris launched a search for funding to finance her education and quickly located a full-scholarship for tuition, supplies and books, She entered a local community college and began working on a degree plan to earn an Associates Degree in Cybersecurity. 
Over the last two years, Harris completed classes in IT Networking Fundamentals, and IT Security and Intrusion Detection. To facilitate learning the Cybersecurity landscape and ecosystem, she found mentors and traveled the country and has attended over 100 Technology events to date. Harris is the recipient of numerous scholarships, fellowships and awards. These include, RSA Student Scholar 2020, WiCYS Veteran Fellow 2020, HIMSS Graduate Scholar 2020, Black Hat 2019 Scholar and Black Hat 2020 Executive Women's Forum Scholar,  CompTia ChannelCon 2019, Grace Hopper Celebration 2019 Scholar, ISC2/SAIC "CyberWarrior" Scholar 2019, 2019 ISC2 National Congress, ICMCP Scholar 2019 and Community College Cybersecurity Summit Speaker and Scholar 2019 and the Women in Cybersecurity Annual event invited attendee at the New International Spy Museum (2018/2019).
Harris is currently enrolled in the Masters Degree Program at EC Council University and is the recipient of the Deans Scholarship. She is studying for her first IT Certification, ISC2's Healthcare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPP). Harris is seeking opportunities and is interested in Medical Device Security. In 2019, she launched the FREE, Virtual, monthly "Women Veterans (and Military Families) TECH Careers and TECH Business Initiative" with Microsoft, Inc. on Microsoft Teams. The Initiative educates and creates a pipeline of TECH Professionals and Entrepreneurs.
